Star-san in beer lines

Also, discovered recently Star San is a bad thing to leave in your beer lines. You are better served using a cleaner like BLC but double the recommended dose and thorough rinse with water.

Starting a new thread to not clutter up other one. This piqued my interest. Why is it bad to leave star-san in beer lines?

I've noticed that it seems to break down the plastic if I leave Starsan in the lines for too long. Had to throw away some tubing that started getting an oily residue on it. Now I just rinse with water and call it good enough.

I've had some picnic tap lines get cloudy if I leave them in the StarSan bucket for too long. I've assumed that it's interacted with the plastic and replaced them.

There is an old podcast interview with one of the chemists from five star, he said that starsan will not hurt the plastic tubing, but it may leave a residue which can be washed off with a different chemical if desired.

Any clues as to what this "different chemical" might be?
